Description: This dataset incorporates the 1:250,000 Soils of Scotland data as the polygon base for peat depth information. Refer to the metadata for the Soils_250K dataset for detailed information on this data.
All known sources of available peat depth data were examined to ascertain average peat depths for individual bogs.
Shapefile fields for the peat depth aspect of this data set are as follows:
Avg_DEPTH_ is the mean of measured depths of peat within the polygon, all other fields are related to derived or type-specific peat depths
PEAT_TYPE is the type of peat or bog within the mapping unit
PEAT_DEPTH is the depth associated with PEAT_TYPE
_PEAT_IN_ is the percentage of the map unit occupied by PEAT_TYPE
MnPtDepth is the calculated mean peat depth within the polygon, taking PEAT_DEPTH and _PEAT_IN_ into account
CombinedPt is the peat depth taking account of Avg_DEPTH_ where it exists and MnPeatDepth otherwise. |
